Which ways up??

Hope someone can help??
Just got some ProComp3000 shocks to go on WSL which way is up on
them.
Is it with the damper rod to the top or the rod to the bottom.
My reason for asking is that if the rod is to the top if mud 'n'
crap get in under the gaiter it will be trapped next to the
seal.If I moun them rod down any crap will get pushed down away
from the seal ???

They're too gay for me to know. I am led to believe the silly
flappy bellows thing goes under the shock, by some people,. but
others insist it's the other way, as shocks leak if "upside
down"...... I have no opinion.

I'd fit them with the rods to the top and chuck the gaiters in
the bin.

They can go either way up but throw the gaytors away or they
won't last 10 minutes.

I checked with ProComp in the US a couple of years ago when I
got mine as there was nothing with them to say. Rod to the top
they said (which makes sense if you think about the originals as
they would have been the same but with a metal shroud around
them). Gaitors - up to you - I fitted them - sealed the top and
made sure the gap at the bottom was left clear to allow the drud
out. Have seen lots of mud/water/abuse since and they seem OK

Advice from Procomp is rod to the top. Although there are people
who will argue otherwise... Mine, are fitted as per procomp
advice and work beautifully. I did fit the gayters, but cut a
decent size hole so that they drain.

Many thanks for the advice.Will fit rods up.Going to try gaiters
with some drain holes in.

Mine had gater at the top for 3 years or so and they have been
full of shit since then, they are all leaking now anyway so need
changing. I cabletied the tops up and left the bottom but they
need extra holes that i did nt cut....
