Freecycle win.
By: Rory Date: June 8, 2014, 10:10 am

Friday afternoon I went in Daisy to pick up my latest wins on
freecycle. It was a job lot pick up consisting of two petrol
mowers and a landrover gearbox.
First the gearbox, it came as a ready to assemble kit, not my
first kit but defiantly the heaviest! There are some numbers and
markings on it which some here might be able to tell me if it's
a 2 or 3 box.

Here is the prize of the pick up for me though, one Suffolk Colt
and one Suffolk Super Colt. I can get the super to start and run
on easystart but not on petrol. Puzzling but not unexpected. Not
tried the Colt yet.

Any suggestions regarding the mower would be nice, thanks.

Can't help regarding getting the mower running but I also got a
Suffolk super colt off freecycle, it's just waiting for me to
have a couple of spare quid to get the blade sharpened as when I
tried it out it just ripped up the grass rather than cutting it!
Had plenty of wins off freecycle, I tend To check it everyday
and have had various things from black and decker workmate to
children's toys to a woman's city bike for my wife, had hub
gears that were knackered so I got a second freecycle bike and
swapped the wheels and gear set up onto the city bike

take the carbs off and then get them cleaned in a sonic bath
:-?
you may be lucky it might sort them out - worse case replace
carbs - available on t'bay of e :rolleye0012:
i too use freecycle and freegle - had some top stuff
best one was a cement mixer - that had same trouble - ended up
buying a fresh carb - under twenty squid - working mixer >Htlr<
worth rinseing out the fuel tanks and lines - use fresh fuel (2
stroke oil if needed) they like new fuel better :rolleye0012:

Been out and fiddling with the super, I have stripped the carb
down as the foam filter had broken down and gave hem a good
clean out, it's now back on and it's running but only when I
refill the float bowl with the tickler. I will fiddle again
tomorrow and wind the fuel inlet screw out a bit. It cuts, it
cuts very well but I think it needs a lawn and not the patch of
grass we have to make a difference.

Check the slow running jet, If its blocked it will only run with
the throttle open. Its the small tube with the brass neck, next
to the float chamber when you split the halves. Gently prise it
out with a pair of pliers.
Looks like this when its out;

Those little 75cc suffolk engines are bomb proof.
Cheers, Jack

Well fiddled with now and the Super is running great. Only took
a couple of turns on the fuel inlet screw for it to start and
run as sweeeeeeeeeet as a sweeeeeeeeeet thing. Cuts well too.
Now to get some fuel pipe for 'tuther one.
