Resistor wiring for s2a diesel

Hi please could you help and explain the wiring of the resistor
on my s2a diesel, if I test the terminals of the resistor
without the glow plugs connected, It tests down to earth if I
remove the right hand terminal ( closest to engine ) the
resistor tests clear, this lead earths the globe for the glow
plug light. I thought that this lead got it's earth from the
glow plugs when they are connected to earth ?.I thought that
this lead was not connected to the rest of the earth system but
only earthed when the switch for the glow plugs was engaged I
cannot find a decent wiring diagram that shows how the
connections to the glow plugs.

Pin 3 from the tractor switch, or pin 5 from an ignition switch
goes to one ned of the resistor, the other end of the resistor
goes to the first glow plug. The other connector on the glow
plug goes to next one and so on, the last one going to earth.
The glow plug indicator bulb connects to each end of resistor.
If you turn the ignition to preheat you should get around 12 V
at the ignition switch end of resistor and 6V at the other, if
you see 12V at both ends either a glow plug has gone, you have a
loses connection or the last plug isn't earthed to the
block/chassis
