Fire extinguisher for ex-MoD Series?

I need a fire extinguisher anyway ;D ,
but I'd like to find one which can be fitted in the original
bracket under the dash.
What are the options nowadays? ???

BCF fire extinguisher is what you need
you sometimes see them on auto jumbles and the like

Call either anchor supplies or Dropzone supplies
They should sort you an mod one :thumbs:

Obvious perhaps but probably best to have one that has a chance
of working, unless its rivet counting for a show vehicle, in
which case go for an old MOD one but keep a real one somewhere
handy ?
Mine still has an original MOD extinguisher, but as it was Cast
in 1983 I rather doubt the thing would work if I needed it. The
modern MOD extinguisher is a huge red thing, must be 5 times the
size of the old green jobs used in Series vehicles.

I know its not what your after as such But aldi have fire
extinguishers on offer at less than nine pounds It's a dry
powder type too Worth getting and sticking in the back of your
vehicle

More than handy a fire extinguisher in a land rover, a few years
back while I was sitting watching tv a bang was heard from the
kitchen followed by all the power going off, the only thing on
in the kitchen was the tumble dryer, so out I go and pull it
from under the counter top unplug it, reset the fuse box and
give the thing a kick.
Five minutes late back front of the TV the smoke alarm starts
screeching, I leg it to the kitchen to find the dam thing on
fire, I leg it out to the land rover and grab the extinguisher
and let the tumble dryer have it.
The fire took ten seconds to put out but it took an half an hour
for the powder to settle enough to get back in the house, it was
everywhere, even in rooms upstairs that had doors closed,
everything was covered in a fine blue dust, spent six hours that
evening cleaning it all up, and if it wasn't for the hepa filter
on the Hoover I recon that I'd just spread the dust around even
more.
Moral of the story, thank fuck I had the extinguisher, but I'd
think twice about letting one off in a confind space!
(Can you get co2 extinguishers for the home?)

The old brass extinguishers were made by Pyrene, a couple on
ebay at the moment. They were loaded with
carbon-tetrachloride, the fluid that used to be used by
dry-cleaners.

I need something in 100% working state, mine won't be a show
vehicle nor something for rivet counters,
but if it would fit in the original bracket it would be cool
:smilewide:
I plan to carry a bigger one along anyway, since the old girl is
petrol ::)

I bought a pyrene one with bracket for £18 at a stall, I had to
empty it though as it leaked, and that stuff stinks!
