Achtung ! Britpart engine mounts

Ordered a bunch of stuff inc some of the round rubber engine
mounts..... I was alarmed to see that these came in a Britpart
bag each, but I thought '' hey, what can go wrong with these
simple bits" ..... so jacked the engine up and fitted 'em , as
the ones in place were proper fucked, when it came to doing the
nuts up guess what... the fuckin threads stripped on the mounts
themselves, ( I wasn't going mad doing 'em up with scaff pole
over spanner either just normal torque you would expect ) the
steel must be some wobbly alloy with cheese in it ffs.....So if
you're needing these yourself DON'T GET BRITPART ONES !

I'm relatively new to LR - i've been told NEVER buy anything
Britpart. Which begs the question how are they in business still
selling stuff?

They seem to win business purely on price. Nowt to do with
whether the parts actually are fit for purpose.
I bought some brake shoes which didn't even match the radius of
the drums. Hopeless. They just went in the bin.
:smiley-furious:

Same story over and over. When I needed stuff for my first landy
I used lots of britpart stuff 'cos I didn't know any better. Two
years down the line it had all broken. Even safety critical
stuff is godawful. :executioner:
One bit of Britpart currently fitted to my 88 is the engine
mounts! I needed some in a hurry and for some reason had them
kicking about. Good ones are on order.
If I have any choice I won't touch anything in a blue box except
for replacement light lenses, which are ok.

When I stuck the 2.5 petrol in the 88 I fitted new Shitpart
engine mountings. Bad vibrations is all I can say, I shelled out
for new genuine ones and the vibration stopped. The Shitpart
ones may as well have been concrete, no give in them at all. The
genuine were a completely different compound. Never forget:

I have the light lenses and usually break them trying to change
a bulb ,and the rear/brake light go clear at the to quite
quickly.

as said before by a few people though its a lottery, I currently
have a set of britpart gearbox mounts ( if i recall this is the
same as the engine mount ) they are a bit soft but the metalic
bits were fine & dandy
