LPG Vapouriser

Hello All
Over the past week or so the lpg vapouriser has had ice on it
when I have got to work I set of at half five and travel ten
miles Coolant hoses are warm radiator top hose hot Engine temp
gauge gets to N and half the grill is covered with a radiator
blanket Any ideas as to why this has started to happen Didn't
happen over winter although had grill completely covered Also
got newer oil in now too so that would keep engine temp down I
run ten miles to work Thanks in advance

Is the vaporiser higher than the top of the rad or cylinder
block? How's it plumbed into the cooling system?
Do the hoses to the vaporiser get warm to the touch? I suspect
you have an air lock in it, check to see if there is a bleed
screw on it and if water or air comes out.

Vapouriser lowdown under washer bottle Hoses warm to touch Hoses
plumbed as take off from hoses to heater matrix Any idea were
bleed screw could be Thanks

I had a similar problem on an lpg disco, the coolant was pipwd
to the vaporiser from the back of the engine.
worked ok in winter, but froze up like yours when spring came.
I discovered that when I turned the heater off, it reduced the
flow of hot coolant to the vapouriser, I replumbed the hoses so
they flowed hot water constantly and problem went away.
so check where the hoses are connected to the engine.

Hi Niteram
Set off from work put radiator blanket all way up Temp gauge
read halfway between N and Red by time I got home Vapouriser had
a little ice on it Top hose on radiator was hot to touch coolant
hoses to vapouriser were warm Moved them a bit so they run a
better route to vapouriser and also made sure coolant was coming
out of them Fastened everything back up and had engine running
awhile Still no better Coolant pipes come off T pieces were
pipes go into heater matrix box Not sure were else can be
plumbed Also never run Misty with the heater going It does blow
warm air Checked this afternoon What it looks like your saying
is put heater on to help it Thanks for help so far

You problem will be that with the pipes coming off on a T the
water will prefer to go straight on, and into the heater not the
vaporiser.
You need the T positioned so the flow into hits the end and has
to split
It probably want an issue in writer as the rad blanket probably
kept the engine bay warm enough. Can't do aged illustration on
this, but flow would be best as the arrows on the T bellow (in
the vertical leg. Out the two horizontal)

I understand you I think Put the T piece so the coolant as to
flow left and right That way you get a better split of hot
coolant Would a Y shaped one work like that too? Will see what I
can do Already moved hoses to try and eliminate flat spots or
any rise Radiator blanket has still been on Partly open though

A Y would work quite well, should get a better flow than a T
that way
A quick test would be to stop the flow to and from the heater -
just plug those ends of the pipes (or clamp it using hose
clamps) to force all the flow around he vaporiser, see if it
fixes the problem. Then you know that's the problem before
changing things again

That's a good idea Got some small hose clamps too Clamp were it
goes into heater matrix and that should divert coolant round
vapouriser and back to radiator Thanks
Why does it have to be dark now

Hi All
Run Misty to work today and back home Radiator blanket fully
closed also on way back had heater blowing hot air setting When
got to work and back home vapouriser was frozen around the rim
Engine temp was just above N Coolant pipes coming from heater
matrix were hot to touch but as I got closer to vapouriser they
went warm Distance is about 3ft Will a blockage in vapouriser
cause this Its only just started to happen Thanks
