AJL the 1964 2A 109 Rebuild

So, this is the rebuild of AJL
The landy was my fathers, he bought it in the early 70s and used
it daily until around 2000, when it was parked up on the drive
for the last time, after some discussion of what should become
of it, I decided I would rather rebuild it as my own than see it
scrapped.
The rebuild started in 2010, got it stripped down, and it sat
around in pieces until last Christmas.
So here are the teardown pics:

Above, it had stood on the drive for 10 years since my father
last parked her up.

So that’s how it was when we started, then with the help of
friends, and my father progress started.

Chassis had been plated many times before, and was rotten to the
core, so it was scrapped.
The rear tub had been re panelled internally, and when a bargain
came up on eBay, the choice to replace it was made,

Started the axles at Christmas

Swivels are fine,

Stripped each end down

Got the axle parts painted 2k Red.
And that’s where it’s at, should have the axles back together
soon, and then will start on the rest of it.

Good old leather gaiters keeping the grot off the swivels.

Thats a busy dash panel loads of dials and gauges. Why are there
so many and are they original? it looks like a fun rebuild, good
luck

The airbrakes are being replaced with the original setup.
The landy brakes where air, and the winch had its own air brakes
but the winch no longer exists, and without a trailer big enough
to warrant them, they aren’t practical for road use.

Yup that was the fuel tank, but along with the rest of it that
was rotten too. It was made by my father for long distance
travel. It also had a feed from a trailer, so you could have
barrels in a trailer and pump the fuel straight into the tank.
When we were taking it apart, my mate was saying how rotten it
was, so I tapped it with a hammer to test it (as you do).......
which was soon followed by a shed load of buckets and boxes
being found to catch the leaking half full tank!

This is going to be a thread to watch. If the rebuild of your
motorcycle is owt to go by, this ought to be a top rebuild.

i'll be watching this, yours is a year older than mine but with
an astounding amount of tinworm in comparison to the amount i
had to deal with
