2.5 petrol engine questions

Hi,I find myself the proud owner of a fairly knackered 2.5
petrol engine (rusty bores) and wonder what my options are with
the thing.
I'm thinking that I should sell everything petrol related (I
only do diesel) and keep the diesel related bits as spares for
my 2.5n/a engine.
Will the 2.5 petrol cylinder head fit onto 2.25 petrol 3 or
5main bearing engines?
Will the groovy spin on oil filter assembly fit onto my trusty
3mb 2.25 diesel engine?
Are the block,crank,camshaft,rockers,pushrods,tappet
slides, water pump etc the same as those on my 2.5n/a diesel
(spare engine)?

Yes to the head - bear in mind some of the threads on it will be
metric. Oh, and if it is the original head then it is unleaded
and 8:1
Yes - to the spin on thing - well I assume so - I only do petrol
but AFAIK it all fits in the same place.
And yes (I think) to the rest of the stuff - best double check
the crank but I think the petrol and diesel were the same.

I'm pretty sure the camshaft and push rods are different,
Camshaft has slightly different lobes than a petrol, and the
push rods are shorter.

I'm fairly sure that the older 2.25's had different crankshafts
(same dimensions but the diesel was forged and petrol cast). If
that carried on with the 2.5 petrol into disiesel may not go?

There were some differences with the 2.25 3MB I believe but the
2.5MB petrol, 2.5 Diesel and the 200Tdi all use the same crank.

Thanks guys,it seems like I'll not have much trouble shifting
the petrol only bits then, and I'll keep the rest.
