It obviously had no structural strength but it looked good and
passed the hammer and screwdriver test so to all intents it
looked and felt solid, it was only as I took the bumper and
front panels off that I discovered it!
The Perkins will be going up on eBay this week along with the
conversion kit, it's a bit smokey and the rear main oil seal
leaks but I've got a new seal it just needs fitting

Thought I should probably update this!
I got bored of only taking one land rover apart so I decided
that what I needed was to take a second apart!
This poor innocent lamb entered my workshop not knowing what it
       was in for!
       [color=red]OFFENSIVE IMAGES REMOVED BY ADMIN.
Picked up for the sum of £350 with gearbox failure and a bit of
rust. 2 and a half days later it looks like this!
Only got the rear axle and steering box to remove now!
The engine is destined for my series while the rest is in eBay
or sold to anyone who walks pasts and inquires! Chassis is
destined to go on and become a trailer for someone I work with!
It turns out I have bought the rustiest disco known to man! Both
sills have no metal, inner and outer, for the full length, both
inner wings completely gone, passenger footwell completely gone,
both rear arches completely gone, I put my foot through the rear
floor! Even the chassis is rusted!
It also turns out that the gentleman who runs the vehicle museum
is also very good friends with a gentleman by the name of Mr
Phillip Bashall and he is going to find out for me if he has
access to a replacement bulkhead, if not it will be on with the
       welding!

Realised it's been a little while since I updated this and I
have done a fair amount of work! Firstly my apologies for anyone
offended by the boingy photos, it won't happen again!
It is now stripped down to a bare chassis and I am now waiting
to get it welded up so I can rebuild it!
My plan is to get it back on the road for my birthday on the
30th of July! A bit of a tall order but hopefully achievable!
The disco is also fully stripped and has been removed from the
workshop freeing up a bit of space!
I spent this evening stripping and cleaning one of the front
springs, they both seem in good condition but they had blown a
small amount so I've cleaned them up and repainted them

Picked up my replacement front bulkhead last other and have
stripped it down and it goes I tomorrow to the sheet metal
workers for the top corners to be sorted and the chassis goes to
the metalsmiths on Monday to get welded up and then it's all go
for the rebuild! Starting to struggle towards my July 30th
       deadline but I'm still hopeful!
I've been spending any spare minute I get painting anything
that's stood still with black metal paint, fuel tank brackets
servo you name it it's now black gloss!
Also put the first coat on the rear door to test it and I think
it's going to look great, a bit different to the blue and I
think anyone who values originality won't like it but I'm not
going to reveal it until it's together!

       closer!

If only I didn't have pesky things like work in the way! Plus I
am moving house in a few weeks so it needs to be in a state to
       at least trailer then!

I have been pretty slack with updating this but in my defence I
haven't managed to get much done to the Land Rover!
It is now on my drive and today I pushed it back into my garden
so I have some space to work on around it. I have the next three
weeks off work and this first week eldest is still at school and
middle daughter is at nursery for two of the days so I have told
my wife this week is dedicated to finally getting the Land Rover
sorted and on the road so I can sell my van and go back to just
       having the Land Rover.
His name has also changed, as the colour scheme is now yellow
and black he is now called buzz!
I have ordered my new seatbox with battery box and other niff
naff and trivia and the exhaust has been modified to the 2.5 n/a
manifold, that still needs a little fettling to fit.
Other jobs include finishing the wiring, making a guage mount
for the temp and volt gauges, making a tool to fit the lower
suspension bushes, fitting the lower suspension bushes, getting
the engine running again and going for the mot!

Suspension fitting bush tool can be made from a length of
M10/M12 threaded rod, nuts, washers, pick a suitable socket from
your 1/2" drive set to press the bush in, clean any burs from
the hole first and grease it I found they are a tight fit.

Done all those bushes with the bushwaka tool found gathering
       dust at my last unit!
It's the shock bottom bushes I'm fitting, just need to find a
socket that is no longer useful and cut a slot in it.
Will take some photos tomorrow and add them all to the thread.
Is there anywhere that you can get the dash board panels cut out
for 52mm gauges? I could make them by chain drilling and filling
I know but if there is an affordable option I would consider it.
The only ones I can find are u drilled but cut and folded to the
correct size so I wouldnt be gaining a huge amount!

I set myself the plan of finishing the front end wiring and
       exhaust manifold fitting today.

I was then interrupted by the postman with a large useful parcel

My new battery box has arrived so that gives me my job for
Wednesday! Tomorrow is a day off Land Rover as I have a hospital
appointment and my wife has a job interview.
