200tdi-eous into a S1 86" - mods needed?

Heya all!
I've got an offer on a S1 86" which needs a fair bit of work.
She's currently got a s3 2.25 petrol ex-MOD fitted, which we
think runs. However she needs a full re-wire pretty much.
However my plan would probably be to eventually put a
200tdi-eous into her.
Just wondering if its worth getting a full wiring harness from
say autosparks, what modifications are needed to either wiring
or the vehicle to fit a 200?
She's got a dubiously-fitted S3 rad aswell, soo that'd be being
changed :)
Guess what am mainly asking is if there are any wiring mods I
should consider now to make life easier later :-)
(Plan is get her running as-is and use for now)

No real wiring as such, on a 200TDI, apart from glowplugs, &
injector pump cut-off/engine stop.
I've just wired both of mine through switches.
Although my TDI is in a 2A, you can have a look if you wish, I'm
only up the road from you.

What Kev said but I'll add that you don't need to bother with
wiring the glow plugs. I've had my Tdi in since 2007 and I've
never used the glow plugs, even on winter mornings down to minus
7.

Then again, wot Dave said^^^, you probably won't need the plugs,
mine starts on the button without, but I give them a few seconds
on a frosty morning. - Thats just me though.

The ignition switched positive feed to the petrol coil can be
diverted to the fuel stop solenoid for a neat installation.

I've had numerous 200tdi's over the years and never needed the
heater plugs, if you do then suggest summat is wrong with engine
or timing

Personally I used the timer relay from a discovery and wired it
back to the cold start light, as people say you rarely need glow
plugs but if your battery gets a bit low then they will save you
as it will start much easier! (as long as they actually work and
are not knackered like most of them!) Just my opinion but if
your doing a job you should do it properly. When I Built mine I
used an auto sparks loom as it had no wiring what so ever when I
ordered it I asked them to put the connections on for a 200tdi
with a decent amount of length to save having loads of bodgy
joins. (all fitted into a s1 80")

I found you need to extend the bump stops. The front pulley is
inline with the axle on a 86"

Yes indeedy, there are a couple of gouges in the top of the diff
casing on Winstan, caused by the front pulley hitting it
whilst tackling speed bumps and similar obstacles at speed.
I think I heard fitting strange rubber engine mounts will cure
that.

Hi - My Series One is a real Bitsa, I took advantage of getting
a loom made up with all the mods I wanted to make it a more
enjoyable every day driver. These included things like wiring
for relays for halogen headlights, series 3 combined indicator,
horn, dip switch, 200Tdi glow plugs, heated screen and horn
relays etc. well worth taking some time to decide what you want
and getting it made up accordingly. I'm really pleased with the
results.
