Bonnet question

Hi guys
A friend of mine is looking after this

It's been restored :-? apparently. Though not by my mate, thank
god, he's just got the job of looking after it now.
The question i have though is. Is the bonnet right? It looks
like a series 2/2a one to my eyes. The Landy is a 6cyl if that
makes a difference.
I'm not a rivet counter by any means but it just looks wrong to
me.

I was under the understanding that Station Wagons (88 & 109) and
all 109s had deluxe bonnets.
However I know it is common for fleet vehicles to have non
standard parts fitted from the factory.

It was a fleet vehicle (guess which? :) ) but take a look at

Older and with a better bonnet, and it's all original.
I'm trying to get this one out laning this year. Keep telling
the owner that the transfer box needs a workout ;D
I guess I just prefer the deluxe bonnet on a series 3.

Funnily enough my mate recently bought a 6 pot on an 'X' plate,
I commented it had the wrong (razor edge) bonnet. And then had
to back track after I found a pic of it new(ish).

Doubtless the bean-counters objected to "luxury" bonnets.... My
brothers mob recently replaced their vans with a new model,
"Head Office" decreed that they delete the cigarette lighter
socket...... It was expensive getting them retro-fitted so the
boys could operate the company supplied 12v test equipment,
phones, gps.....

Which came first? The bonnet for mounting the spare tyre or
without. Have to say without looks much better imo.

My father reminded me of a similar thing from the 80s with a
brewery firm we dealt with. The chief engineer asked Bedford for
the cost of all the badges fitted to its trucks. When he got the
price he multiplied it by the number of trucks (100+) and told
them he wasn't going to pay for them. New trucks arrived all
with holes in the panels where the badges should of been. You
could still tell they were Bedfords though.
