Hi all, the brakes on my series 3 diesel, are useless, unless I
pump the pedal a couple of times and then they are quite good,
me thinks I have a problem, Help!!!

sound like they need bleeding or you have a leak in the system
somewhere or the master cylinder could be dicky

In my experience, double-dipping is often down to brake
adjustment.
If the shoes are not almost touching the drum, the first push
moves them towards the drum and the second push makes them work.
Easy to test - press the pedal once and release, wait 10 seconds
or so then press again. If you don't get any braking then it's
probably an adjustment problem.
Double-dipping quickly means you push the shoes out again before
they have had a chance to retract fully.

Does sound like adjustment to me. Lift each end of said vehicle
(one end at a time) and turn one of the adjusters on one wheel
clockwise until it stops. The wheel should be locked. Back the
adjuster off a couple of clicks until wheel rotates freely but
the shoe can just be heard rubbing on the drum. Do the same with
the other adjuster on the same wheel and then move onto the
other wheel. Then do the same with the other end of the Landy.
If one or more of the adjusters just keep turning round then
they're fubared and need changing. If after adjustment you still
have to pump up then you may need to bleed the system. If you
need to bleed them there are 101 different ways to do it but
this is my favorite method and worked for me. (look at the
bottom of the page)

Does for me as well now - so last time they must have been doing
some website maintenance (or something). Don't agree with the
bleeding brakes though. If you haven't modified the TLS set up
(i.e. bleed nipples at bottom) - just reverse bleed is
easiest... and that's how I believe LR intended them to be done.
It's the same for all TLS car set ups - instead of routing the
supply pipe to the bottom cylinder which is a bit messy, just
put in the top and reverse bleed.Reverse bleeding is so much
easier than 'assistant method' - as one person can do it.

I've been having similar problems with my 6 pot brakes, I'd
previously bled them to death with no improvement in pedal feel.
but I've now fitted new front hoses (cos 1 was spitting) and new
adjusters (cos they didn't), adjusted them up and bled again.
the brakes are now much better, I've not done the rears yet, but
hope doing that will help a bit more.
btw my brakes are all still piped as landrover intended.
