Mechanical or electric fuel pump???

As the title suggests, what's the better one. Currently have a
engine driven one but it's failed on me. So was wondering which
would be best on my series 3 petrol?

That's the way I was heading as the last one lasted 30 years,
which is not bad tbh.

Depends. I have mechanical pumps on my two petrol series here,
but electric on the ambulance in the states. Reason? It stands
for long periods so an electric pump priming the carb before
cranking is a bit of a bonus.
If you don't have any reason to move from mechanical I'd stay
with it, but on the proviso it's a pukka AC pump. Personally I'd
rather rebuild the original with a genuine kit than fit
aftermarket, I've had several bad experiences with pattern pumps
myself.

Same as Noel, Mechanical all day long, Easy to get parts for and
simple to fix. I've had a compact electric facet pump fitted
before by a P/O, Bolted to the chassis, It started to get REALLY
noisy, so I re-kitted the AC mechanical fuel pump and got rid of
the facet.

Replace or rebuild with original equipment kit. Do not bother
with a Britpart pump, may not last and the last one I fitted the
pump body casting was not the same as an original, right bugger
to get a spanner on.

Genuine Facet pumps are fine, done over 60k miles with no issues
on the V8

The only issue I found with Facet pumps on the ambulance were
they seem to all be designed to work low down close to the fuel
tank and "push" upwards to the carb. That's all well and good
with a six or V8 with rear tank but not really practical with a
twin tank military setup and ours gave up pretty quickly (not
its fault of course, mine for ignoring the instructions). After
a bit of research I went for a Huco (made in Germany and sold by
Weber) as that is designed to be mounted in the engine bay and
"pull", and I've installed it on a bracket above the rocker
cover where the coil would be on a FFR. I works a treat.

the fact I found a C.A.V one at a damn good price
