       Day out by Bala.

       Hi all
Just got back from a day out in the Bala area. Went on a
       "Adventure drive" with Landcraft.
Arrived at the meeting point to the sight of an evoke (thought
"no way that's with us" wagfinger I was wrong :o) the rest of
the group was made up of a disco 3, some swb and lwb boingys
       and a jxxp :o
Headed up to the site which is 5000 acres of private forest and
the Landy decides it doesn't want to run on petrol :WTF Gas yes,
petrol no. Let it Coast downhill in gear and it decides to run
again. So off into the forestry we go. All ok for the first
hour, then my Landy dies at the bottom of a hill. No ignition
lights but engine turns over. Finally get it going using some
spare cable to get some power to a solenoid so we can at least
get moving from the bottom of nowhere to the top. Finally find
the problem with the electrics. My ignition switch is bust (why
don't these things happen when you're near civilisation
       :banghead)
So we get it running then the starter circuit dies, so no
starting by the key. It's either bump start or the screwdriver
across the solenoid. While there I thought the fuel problem was
a blocked fuel filter but it was a fecked fuel pump.I thought my
day was over :smiley-furious: but she'll run ok on gas >rock<
       Gas it is then.
Any way while I was rewiring and servicing my truck the others
were off driving round the woods, so at least I wasn't messing
up there day. When they came back, we all went off again to find
       some muddy stuff :giddy:
Later on we came to a steep hill climb, the jxxp got towed over
the top and the evoke went round, while I stalled it and had to
bump start in reverse :o (not fun) but at least I got to give
       it another go
By the time we finished we had spent some 6 hours driving. I had
remembered how much I hate doing vehicle electrics and I had
been impressed by the road car (still wouldn't buy it, but it
was quite impressive off road). The upside was that I had
impressed the rest of them with a thirty year old under powered,
held together with cable ties and gaffer tape leaf sprung piece
       of Solihull's finest.
I love my Landy :smilewide: :smilewide:

P.s. I recommend a day out with Landcraft if you want to have
       some off road fun.
P.p.s some pics will follow if I can find any with no offensive
boingys in them. If I have offended anyone with talk of said
boingys, road cars and a jxxp, then I apologise, but please
organise a similar trip limited to right thinking people.

I too will be making a trek to Bala in the near future - but
will be greenlaning rather than off-roading.
Sadly, I think I'll be the only Landy using proper springs too
       :-\

If you're going again, please let me know. It was embarrassing
driving round with all the boingys. At least I could fix mine
       without needing a computer :giddy:
