Black Sheep 1967 SWB Petrol
By: Jackual Date: February 7, 2014, 2:43 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I caught word about a Landrover up for grabs, I was given a
phone number to ring, So I went to have a look after work. A
cute little truck cab, The guy was its 2nd owner, having it for
8 years. He seized the engine up 6 months ago on the main
highway to Gisborne, He's torn the engine out in Gisborne, Along
with the radiator, and left them there, but had the truck towed
to Hastings. I made him a silly offer on the Landrover (minus
engine and rad), and he was happy with it.
The next day I towed it home.

Very original!.
I tried to remove the paint over the sign writing on the doors,
AGTEC in Gisborne, So they must have been the first owners, A
collage. That'll explain the low miles its done.

Its got recent new brake cylinders and fuel tank, The front prop
also looks recent.

The chassis is solid, Needs a daub with some paint in places.
I don't know how this has happend, looks like part of the clutch
has come adrift and smashed through the bell housing.

So, the name black sheep?, Well, its got no engine, But I've got
an engine buried in the shed I'm going to fit, a 2.25 from the
Landrover wreckers place I worked at in Napier. Its from the
Landrover that was driven over the cliff in the film black
sheep, Hence the name of the little 88". Its not run since that
day the film crew launched it over the Hawkes bay coastal
cliffs, And I've been slowly butchering it for odd parts.

I know, The engine is a series 2, But the landrover in the film
was a series 3, Pretty common for engines to get swapped about.
The manky piston is out of black sheep, I've never seen a
Landrover fitted with lower oil scrapers on the piston.

I've totted up the missing engine parts from LR series and put
in an order.
So there we have it, The latest project to join the long
list..... Updates when and if ect ect...
Cheers, Jack.

Its registered as a 1967 Landrover "Weldside"?? You
could be right with '66 Dave, It'll probably have taken it the
best part of a year to get over here from the Midlands in them
days.
