...has anyone used these tanks (for a swb)...only the one on my
S2 has turned Tetley overnight, leaving me with a stinky garage

...and I can get one of these for £80 delivered.....is it worth
       it??

Got a shitpart tank last year for swb. Had clogged up lines and
filter all the time, starving the engine. This is what old tank
       looked like:

       New tank:

Had to drill out the holes for the bolts because it didn't fit.
Apart from that ok and does not leak (...argh, now I jinxed
       it...).

..ask me again in a year or so...

Fitted one on my series 3 last year. No problem on fitting but I
did repaint it, then I put some thick waxoyl on it with a brush.
Finally sprayed waxoyl on it when fitted. At least it won't rot
       from the outside (I hope).

I'm fairly sure the one on mine is shitpart, and it's been on
there now for 5 and a half years with no problems at all if that
helps ease your mind! It was thoroughly waxoyl'd before it went
on, and hasn't shown any signs of rusting yet. I can't comment
on how well aligned the fittings are however, because it was
done by someone else during some other chassis surgery.

Had one on there for about 8 years now, and the paint is still
ok. However I did have to adjust the fillers with a hammer to
       get it in place properly.

ah, now I remember I also had to cut out some of the seat box
frame to get the filler in... didn't want to temper with the
       filler itself..

Do yourself a big favour though.... when fitting it, use three
bolts at one end, and a single, central, bushed bolt at the
other. This prevents the tank twisting and cracking as the
chassis flexes (if you ever get into serious odd angles when off
       road mainly)

I put a britpart tank on my 109. It was the rear tank for a six
       pot, not the underseat type.
I used old shock absorber bushes to stop the longer than
original lip from clamping directly to the chassis.
