@NoelC - yeah we used a press. It just wasnt hydraulic (a fly
press) so took quite a bit of effort to get it in. Lookinhg at
getting a hydraulic one at some point though

Where did you get the leather/steel seals from ? I am using
modern rubber ones, no probs so far but would like the old style
on the shelf for whenever they go.

I got the metal and leather seal through paddocks -

Before we cleaned everything we put the seal to soak in some
clean EP90 in a tin and left it overnight for when we came to
fit it. Probably a bit overkill considering the manual just says
lubricate but at least it should give a good seal

Right then, got the swivel gaiter on (this is a right PITA to
do, took us 2 hours as its right fiddly). It was given a good
coat of vaseline both sides before fitting. Then the brakes were
reconnected and the drum was put back on

Then we filled the housing up with the swivel grease and gave it
all a good coat of black paint before refitting the wheel
(wheels will get painted limestone at some point)
Now for the other side ;D
