Yes, they released the X-E2 about two months after I bought the
X-E1 which is what happens every time I buy something
electronic! That sounds like a good offer for the X-Pro, my X-E1
cost me £700 c/w the 18-55 f2.8 which is a superb lens for the
money. I use some of my M42 lenses with it, now it has 'focus
peaking' I can get pin sharp shots which is rather nice.
The offer is still there if you want to see what the X-E1 feels
like before you splash out on the X-Pro, they are practically
the same camera.
In case anyone is wondering why we two are discussing a new
fangled digital affair on a thread about 'good ole' 35mm
cameras. Well, these Fuji's are 'retro' cameras. They are styled
similarly to older film era cameras, have really nice old style
analogue controls and yet have all the advantages of digital. I
never did the 'develop your own' thing, couldn't be arsed,
didn't want to smell of weird chemicals rofl and wanted to get
out and about in the sunshine instead of spending all my time in
a dark room all by myself. Having others develop was rubbish
too, waiting a week to see if you've got 36 pictures of your
thumb or cut your mothers head off etc wasn't excellent. I much
prefer to get instant results (although strangely, I do spend
many hours sat in front of a computer screen 'developing'
shots!! Weird how that worked out..)
As for worrying about the longevity of digital - well back up! I
have three portable hard drives, plus three in the machine
itself, a massive network drive and gigabytes of cloud storage.
I put everything on CD/DVD too although apparently they only
last between 10-20 years.

Never a truer word spoken. I don't have cloud storage, offsite
blu-rays are good enough for me. You certainly don't want
everything in one place in case it gets nicked!

I have to have cloud back up as sometimes clients can come back
and ask for prints or re-edits years after the original shoot, I
can't afford to have lost the original RAW image. The beauty of
pro level cloud services means I can sue the pants of them if
they lose anything but it's pricey.
The good lady pressed the 'on' button on my mac last year, at
the exact same moment Wakefield had a massive power cut. It took
the mac, and two back up drives out. I've got a bit more
paranoid since! :lousyputer:

I have a NIKKORMAT FT and a stack of lenses lurking in a box
somewhere; great, bulletproof camera that travelled with me for
years
I then converted to a CANON and then stuck with CANON's for
digital as I could keep using the lenses.

Hi Jim,
I have this lens in mint condition:
HTML http://www.adaptall-2.org/lenses/01A.html
I got it for £90, they often sell for well over £150, I've done
a quick search on that well known auction site and there aren't
any for sale at the moment (you can buy the instruction book
though for £6.59! :giddy:)
It's yours for £50.00, which is a bargain price considering the
reviews and current value. I was searching for the others I have
and can't find most of them, the one other I have, turned out to
have been a gift from SWMBO and, I quote "you sell that, I'll
cut your knackers off" so it's just the one lens up for grabs in
this format, sorry!
I have some surplus M42 lenses, although I don't remember the
exact details right now:
400mm f5.6 (c/w soft case FOC) £40.00 o.n.o
200mm f4.5 £30.00 o.n.o
plus:
Zorki 4k (near mint, fully operational) £50.00 o.n.o
Yashica Minister 3 (fully operational, but could do with new
light seals) £20.00 o.n.o
Anyone interested let me know. I will post (at cost)
