Overdrive identification

Hi I've just bought this overdrive and was wondering what make
it is? It also come without any handle.

Yep, it's a Torro.
Superficially similar to the Fairey in looks and internals, but
with a much stronger clutch sleeve (bigger and fewer teeth) and
a bigger oil capacity.
You did get the clutch sleeve with it, didn't you? It's the bit
which goes in the end of the output shaft:

Although the Torro is beefier than the Fairey, parts are no
longer available.
Bearings should be available from a bearing stockist, but if the
clutch sleeve, input or output shafts wear out or fail you've
had it :2mo5pow:
The handle on the Torro comes through the front of the seat box,
unlike the Fairey which comes through the side of the tunnel.

I've got what you can see in the pic. I'm guessing the clutch
sleeve is inside the shaft.

The clutch sleeve just pulls/drops out so should be easy to
check.
It's not unusual for folk to pull an overdrive and sell it,
forgetting about the clutch sleeve which is fitted to the
gearbox output shaft.
Check - if you haven't got it, a Torro overdrive is useless as
they are not available.
You can but new oners for Faireys, but not Torros :confused:

Luckily I bought it off my mate as he's breaking a series 3 so
I'll just ask him if it's still there. It's not a problem if
anything breaks. I make gears for a living.

this should give you some idea and should fit/operate the Toro
overdrive, the large L shaped bracket is the mount for the
gearlever
this was my search for Fairey overdrive, lots of pictures
showing the linkages

The Torro lever is very similar to the Fairey, just shorter,
coming through the front of the seatbox rather than extending
forward to the tunnel:

VFF557 if i sent you a gear out of a toro could you remake one
and how much would it cost.
