       Chalkie lives

finally got round to starting his engine >rock< he's only been
sat idle for at least three years rofl
       [IMG]

an hour or so fiddling around cleaning contacts and checking
he'd still got oil, a little temporary ignition wiring and a few
squirts of easy start to initially start him up and then it was
into the cab with half a gallon of petrol and stuff the fuel
pipe in the can, back under the bonnet to manually pump fuel up
then back to the starter switch and he burst into life >rock<
and settled down to a nice quiet tickover, the oil pressure is a
little low according to the dash guage but he runs :giddy:
next job is to get the floor plates out and replace the clutch
slave and fit a gearstick, lots of little jobs to be done but he
"might" see the road this coming year :smilewide:

i'm not exactly keen on it either but it's going to stay on
there, the plan at present and for a while is to keep everything
"as is" including the algae and get him up to mot standard and
       registered ...
then drive him looking like he's just crept out from under a
       scrap pile :smilewide:
eventually i can see me gathering up the correct wing panels and
brushguard etc' to get him back to looking as he was when
originally imported, the only thing i might change from original
is the paint scheme as i have a photo of one in a very
interesting camo that i'd be tempted to try and replicate

ok we have a tiny little more progress (only tiny)
yesterday i finally got the floor and tunnel out, hammer and
screwdriver to remove the few screws i could and then the
grinder to carefully remove the heads of the bolts i couldn't
       undo
i now have a replacement gearstick fitted and have grabbed the
gearbox number 25504782 F which i'd say is the original gearbox
as calVIN reports back that it's a CKD (ignore the fact calVIN
       says it's a 109 rofl ), the suffix F is interesting to me, i'm
wondering if it's one of the "rare" all-synchro 2a boxes i'm not
bothered if it isn't as i like Big Ears crashbox
there'll only be a little bit more done today, i'll be removing
the clutch slave and mastercylinder and putting the slave and
hose on the shopping list, already have a master cylinder on the
       shelf
i was also donated a few random parts yesterday to help with
getting it up and running "on the road" 6x new 10" shoes, a new
brake slave along with random light lenses
i'm feeling quite good now i've finally got a little visible
       progress :smilewide:
