Barbour "Border" for me. It replaced a "Mcbean" wax coat I had
new in 1978. Now that one would keep some shit out, sadly could
not find out if still made.

I have an old Barbour 'Bedale' hanging up in the garage and
going mouldy, I really must get it out and get it sent to
Barbour for a bit of TLC. I bought it in 1992 as a pressy to
myself when I packed in smoking.....

Fave is my Barbour Cowen Commando, based on an old British Army
pattern. Apparently some chap had a Barbour for years in the
forces, and sent it back for more pockets, repairs etc over the
years and eventually they gave him a new one, and kept the old
one in their archive. They made some copies a few years ago. I
love mine, got lots of useful pockets and the only thing I think
it is missing would be an extra zip for a liner.
I have an International and a Trooper (non-waxed breathable one)
too. The Trooper usually comes out with me in the LR.
As for red-socking I still truck about in a Berghaus Mera Peak
which really could do with replacing for really harsh weather as
even when re-proofed with Nikwax n the like it never quite
performs the same as it once did - still impressed with it and
it has seen a lot of use! Got lots of Rohan jackets, both
waterproof and non-waterproof around too.

Don't want to be labeled as one, but anoraks are defined as a
coat without a front opening which is pulled over the head and
usually has a hood, the word is Inuit, parka on the other hand
is a coat (knee length) with a front fastening.
