       Brake adjusters

       Quick question please.
Are the snail type brake cam adjusters available as spare parts
or are they an integral part of the backplate?
       Thanks!

You can buy these as kits as these parts wear. :smilewide:

I've fitted allegedly an OEM kit to a front brake. OK so
far, but have heard reports of them coming to pieces in use.
All the washers spring etc go inside the backplate not on the
back of it as the originals were.
Best to source a replacement back plate or persever with the
plus gas on the existing plate and don't neglect them when
playing with the grease gun and oil can.

Dave, what type of axles are you working on? I've all manner of
crap lying around, I may be able to find some good take-off
backplates parts and drop them into Binders Yard if you're not
in a mad rush for them.

If you go the new adjuster route avoid Britpart. The last ones I
saw from them looked worse than the knackered ones the bloke
       took off his motor.
I fitted some to my 88 about 3 years ago which may have been
"Allmakes" still on and working fine.

Thanks for the replies. I am a bit wary of using some
manufacturers products having read posts on here.
       Noel, it's for a W plate 1980 series 3 SWB 2.25petrol. I'm in no
immediate rush but if you do happen to have any that would be
       great.

I fitted an all makes kit and it looks OK quality for the price,
I used locktite on the bolt so hopefully they should stay
       together.

with a broken tap jammed into the threaded hole

If your adjusters turn smoothly and are just worn flat then use
a round file to put the dimples back in them.
