just fitted a hard top to my 2a initially because I wanted to
protect the canvas from the worse snow weve had in a million
years, but after driving today cant believe how quiet it is and
less fumes better vision and I quite like the look of it a bit
       more too!

If you are lucky the panels will not vibrate in the wind......
At full chat they can make a Jamaican steel band sound
positively restful. Keep the windows shut.

Do all canvas tops suffer with fumes?

Only if your exhaust exits at the rear.
If your exhaust exits to the side and protrudes just an inch or
so, it will cut the slipstream and you won't get fumes drawn in
through the back of the tilt when it's open.

Found mine to be quieter with rag top on. Bit like driving a
biscuit tin with hard top :-?

For winter use you can't beat a truck cab. Quieter, warmer and
sexier looking. For summer use you can't beat a rag top 8)
Being a soft southerner I'm not hardy enough to use the rag top
       in the winter!

I had a hard top once. It was the noisiest LR I have ever
driven. the rounded cab roof seemed to focus all the noise
       right at the drivers head.
When I converted to a hard top, it was MUCH quieter.

take the doortops off in a truckcab, it lets the noise escape

I did nearly fit a truck cab because I got one lying around but
for the sake of the 30 quid it cost I thought id be nice and
cover the kids and dog aswell! :smile1
