Good original looking Land Rover. I love Marine Blue - second
only to green. Just keep it as it is. My first Land Rover was an
N reg, and I think that had the best quality chassis I have had
       on a Series 3.

This chassis is pretty awful to be honest! Its had a new rear
crossmember before and thats already rusting through! I'm hoping
to make her my daily driver so she's not going to stay original
i'm afraid. Outwardly she'll look pretty much the same though

Me and the lads managed to get off the engine, gearbox and
bulkhead today, leaving only the annoying chassis mounted
steering relay sat in the frame. That will come out even if I
have to sit the chassis upsidedown and hit it with an incredibly
large sledge... :smiley-furious: Just a couple of photos
through the breaking and how she looks now. Of course we had to
put the incredibly precariously balanced folding chairs on it
and make it our racing chariot and race the camera timer back to
your seat without going arse over tit! Its just what you do...

Okay so the wagon has been completely dismembered now. Couple of
picks to pop up of the Radiator, couple of dinks in it during
removal ( :smiley-furious: Should they affect the reliability
of the unit badly? It was working pretty well before, but don't
want to reuse it if it Fucks up. Oh and the drainage housing
came away rather than the plug on draining, so if I keep it I
will have to solder that. Any advice appreciated.

       hi
mine has most of the front fins flaked off. :( looks terrible
but it is still performing well in warm Maltese weather.
you can try fill it up and check if there are any leaks in the
damaged areas. i would re-install it. replacing it isn't much of
       a big job.

Ay up. Been a while since I posted the latest installment of my
rebuild. So I've been concentrating on sorting our the general
bits of bodywork that has needed doing this month and will
shortly be moving onto the axles/steering. Can't remember if I
mentioned this before but I'm aiming for Maggie to look battered
and used, but structurally sound and rust proof, with a little
       performance and comfortable...
Here is the seatbox after sanding back/grinding in certain
places and painting with some rust beater and covering with
hammerite. I hate the stuff but it does seem to work quite
nicely, although costs and arm and a leg! The underside is soon
to be coated in hammerite-waxyol underbody seal.

The Next thing I've been up to is the bonnet. Obviously not the
hardest thing in the world but I would seriously advice anyone
       DON'T USE Hammerite Spray! :smiley-furious: :smiley-furious:
:smiley-furious: It was rubbish, so I went back to the brush.

I've cleaned/painted up the sill brackets in a bit of Hammerite,
just for a wee bit of protection against the rust worm!

The tub is next on the list, fair bit of corrosion from where it
meant the chassis as shown. Hoping to get the struts off too and
clean/paint them up a bit as well as replace all the pop rivets.

Soon I'll be starting on the steering. Now the steering swivels
are knackered as you can see the chrome is completely shot. I'm
gonna be changing all the track ends and taking the steering box
apart. Hopefully all is as it should be! Oh and the track rods a
are a pain if they haven't been moved but a sledgehammer tends
       to help!

Next job is axles. I have Disco 3.54 diffs on mine, which I know
is slightly err frowned upon? But they seem to cruise pretty
well at 50mph which is where i tend to spend a fair amount of
time so I will probably stick with them. Only problem is that
the rear diff has no fill point and looks like it has been
wleded at some point? If anyone can suggest how I could go about
filling it up I'd be much obliged! Gonna be stripping them and
examining half shafts etc as well as painting them I think.

Last but not least we have the gearbox. From looking inside the
housing it is obvious a seal somewhere is shot as there is muck
all round it. Also a heck of a lot of gaskets need replacing. Oh
       well, onto the next job!
