Any vintage bike guys on here? As well as a series Landie I have
a 1930 BSA 350 "sloper" I am looking for a complete cush
drive/engine sprocket. Plus any other parts to complete a
rebuild.

... back in the day, on the trip to the IOM, we fashioned a cush
drive at the side of the M6 from a pair of cut up socks !, not
that that helps, but I do have a BSA too a '67 Bantam Silver,
and a 650 Kwacker, only those two at present but I have had more
bikes than a lot - there was a time when the girl that I should
of married (long story) could not understand why I needed 8 at
once !

likewise, I only have the one bike at the moment, a Buell xb12s
lightning, there are a few old pre war bikes around here, but
no-one that I actually know well.

I used to have 3 or 4 bikes at any one time. I had to sell my
british stuff when my daughters went to uni and I ran out of
money. I bought a Yamaha Diversion as a commuter to keep me on
two wheels. 128000 miles later I still have it. The vintage bike
is a retirement present to myself but has a good few parts
missing. Some of which I can make others I will search for.

where to find one or how to make one, no-one will!

Yup,
My favourate and first propper bike at 17 - 76 Honda Cb200,
rebuilt first a couple of years ago. (currently part through its
third rebuild)

My first two wheeler was a 59 mobylette. I rebuilt this and
ported it quite alot which did take its toll on the lower end
power so much so it didnt like setting off. But, at 16 it was a
lot of fun.

Thanks Matthew.
I am doing a dummy build of the parts I have to establish just
what is missing. So far the cush drive and the left hand brake
peddle are the major items. This bike has rear brake on right
hand peddle and front brake on left hand peddle. I have a lathe
and Bridgeport milling machine so can make a lot. All the engine
fixing studs/ spacers etc have to be made.
If I can not find any parts I will try and have a good look at
another machine and make the peddle. If no cush drive surfaces I
will look at a belt primary drive may be using a Norton Commando
clutch and home made engine pulley. This may require the primary
caces to be spaced apart to get the clutch in, going to be a
long job.

I to love outfits. In the early 70s I built a Hillman Imp
engined/Norton wideline featherbed framed outfit. With 16"
wheels it handled really well and was quick for its day.

Hi Divie,
I spoke to my Grandfather who has spent a lifetime messing with
old bikes. He suggested that you join the VMCC, if you havent
already. Apparently there were tens of thousands of 350 Slopers
made so someone somewhere in the VMCC should have the parts you
require (or maybe on ebay).
As for making the drive, he rejected the adapting-a-Norton idea
as apparently "it's only a bloody spring!".
Sorry I cant be much more help, I was hoping he might have known
someone with a pile of the right spare but apparently not.
