Imp vrs. Train
By: Violet Vivid Date: November 27, 2013, 1:56 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Heya All!
I figured I've got to celebrate getting Odie back on the road,
and also my own Imp50 celebration.
And its a race, from Manchester to Glasgow!
:D
Basically Vicki, my girlfriend, and two of her friends are
booked to get the 9:16am train from Manchester Piccadilly to
Glasgow Central Stations on 21st December to go to a panto, I'm
going to drop her off at the station, and race her to Glasgow
station in Odie. The train is a straight through, they haven't
got to make any changes.
Her train takes 3 hrs 13mins. My road route takes 3 hrs 18mins!!
Now to make it fairer on me I do get a headstart, as I've got to
cross Manchester traffic, and she hasn't.
Also I'm using this as a way to raise money for charity (I plan
on doing many more random challenges like this)
What I'm suggesting is this, pledgebet however much you want, on
either the train winning or me winning. Or can do a either way
bet on top, soo say you bet £5 for me to win, if I do win it'd
be a £5 donation. But if the train wins you'd be pledging £2.50.
Sound reasonable?
Also there are a couple of exceptions, basically if my Imp
breaks before then then all pledgebets are off, and if the
weather is too adverse the same, all pledgebets are off (the
train is a definite obviously!)
the charity I've chosen for this Macmillan Cancer Support. I've
chosen this one because both Vicki & myself have lost
grandparents to cancer, and they were a great help to my family
in the last few months of my Grandfathers life.
I'm mainly running this on facebook, but also sharing it over
any forum's I'm on :)
For those of you on there the facebook event page is here (with
a bit more details & more updates):

I think you'll win hands down. Trains are susceptible to leaves
on the line, strong winds, driver needs a shit etc...

Don't know if anybody on here reads Classic Car Weekly, but if
you brought last weeks you'd have seen this cover:

WELL DONE, I am sure it would have been a close call and you
were lucky to get across Glasgow without hassle.

Truthfully was under the speed limit all the way, infact due to
torrential rain in Cumbria, and VERY strong winds near Carlisle
I had to drop to around 50-55mph!
And there was a 40mph contraflow!
Also I did get to the station at 12pm-ish, but couldn't find the
drop-off point (official finish line) till 12:18pm, after
fighting the one-way systems

Congratulations, what a fantastic job ..... that Imp must of
been buzzin, and I bet your ears were too (my uncle used to
rally one, and I remember when riding in the back it made your
head sing!) :smilewide:
