FFS! now she won't start

Well she was running beautifully a couple of weeks ago. She's a
1969 SWB with a lashed in 2.5 NAD conversion. Yesterday I moved
her off the drive to sort the fence out and she seemed a bit
slow to crank. I went to move her back this afternoon and she
just clicked. I put her on charge and left her. When I jumped in
tonight to move her there are no lights on the dash when I turn
the key, there was a red & green one illuminated before. There
are other electrical bits, roof light and a beacon (on before I
bought her before you ask!) and they all work perfectly. The
digital voltage guage shows over 12 volts also. The fuses are
all good and I can't see anything astray under the bonnnet using
a torch. After my sense of humour failed, I'm thinking a faulty
barrel? Any pointers/tests would be great and can anyone tell me
if the barrel is rebuildable/serviceable or is a new one the way
to go? Can anyone tell me if a debender one or anything else
fits, it does have a steering lock.

if I read that right you have a steering lock fitted, so
something like a series 3 column, could be the switch assy on
the back of the ignition switch is faulty, could be a bad
connection or even a wire fallen off. you need to trace the
wires and see if there are any loose wires, if there isn't then
its really a case of checking with a multimeter or similar to
see where the voltage is being lost.

Had the same happen to my 2.25 petrol. Took some advice from

Just a thought as it happened to mine once. Has the small wire
fallen off the starter solenoid ? I would be looking at that
area for loose/bad connections. Or silly one the battery
terminals clean and tight ?

If the ign switch that fires the solenoid is fucked, short out
across the teminals on the solenoid directly with a scrap
screwdriver or whatever to start motor ( I started one of mine
this way for weeks until I could be arsed to fix properly ! )

i spent three days starting the landy with a piece of wire from
battery to solenoid (while in italy the last 3 days that is)
clean and tight connections as said ^^^^ very important.

Ps dont just dig in new and never explored areas.. try the
obvious and down right silly/stupid steps first. you end up
unearthing /discovering skeletons you would be better off :)

Well you won't f:@<&*G believe it! I came out this morning at 6
AM and the bloody lights were on. In my annoyance last night I
turned the switch on and off to see if they were working but
nothing happened. I must have left the switch on when I left
her, but the lights were deffo not illuminated. I switched them
off this morning and left her as I didn't have the time to mess
around. I went out tonight, turned the key and blow me the
ignition lights came on! The battery was flat so she's back on
the charger now. Fingers crossed for tomorrow night! Thanks for
all the help guys, must have been the landy fairy!

Right, I charged the battery overnight and it's fine. I jumped
in to start her, turned the key, lights came on and click click.
So a sticky starter me thinks. So I put her in gear and give her
a rock. I jumped back in, turned the key and absolutely nothing
again! No lights, no clicks, nothing. Now getting annoyed! Any
help would be great!

if you think the starter is sticky try poke/hit it /tap with
with rod so to release it. i remember once had to resort to that
to get it going. tap the housing of the starter motor .
