       And there was me thinking of borrowing some STEEL chequer plate
       from work for a wingtop.
       Alternatively, I suppose a swing out tailgate version would be
       possible

       i wouldnt have thought that was  :gay:
       wing tops have a practical purpose - i need some for mine - to
       load the roof rack
       i could be wrong  :-?

       I weighed in three of those irons recently. My aunt used to use
       one when she lived on a boat back in the 60s; had the scars to
       prove it.
       They're all right if you're very careful and don't mind your
       laundry (and room) smelling of paraffin. Only really good for
       cotton/denim and stuff you need a hot iron for.
