I remember the old Dartford tunnel in the mid 70's, I used to go
thru on a motorbike, in those days it was just one single
tunnel, you were going one way, the stuff going the other way
was on the other side of road, like the Rotherhithe still is
today.. At night I would regularly be behind lorries marked
'Norfolk & Suffolk Pigs' the white crash helmet was always
spattered with blood on these occasions !...Cost me 12p or
something for a motorbike , it was going to be FREE once it had
paid for itself too..yeah right !

Interesting story there Peter ! Unfortunately the Land Rover
probably hasn't survived. It's last liability date was 1985.

I can remember the days before the bridge was there and
everything went under the water. They used a Land Rover which
you couldn't overtake to regulate the speed of the traffic. I
once saw someone trying to go round said Land Rover who promptly
swerved across his path. Needless to say he dropped back and
joined the queue.
