Being a short arse of 5'8" with std seats and dished bonnet with
a 235 on it, laning sometimes becomes interesting.
Just close your eyes and hope you've got it right.

I think I am sold on the idea but with a dished bonnet to get it
lowered down a bit more.
Appreciating all the advice.
I am not too concerned about bonnet weight and I am a solid 6'
so visibility shouldn't be too bad I suppose.

Bonnet mounted 7.50 on a deluxe bonnet. You just get use to it.
I do find that the 7.50 doesn't sit in the dish fully.

Already there with the 9.00 on the bonnet, not as bad as some
will have you believe (they're just gayers :gay:)

The only difference I find is that my windscreen washers are
more accurate without the wheel (235) on the bonnet; with it in
place the water jets seem to blow about a bit, without it they
hit the screen squarely.

I agree, never had a problem visibility wise, even with a 900 on
the bonnet -lifting the bonnet though, - try that with the full
mod crash guard on the front, its almost impossible with the
wheel on there

There is a theory going around down here that the spare wheel on
the bonnet makes the Land Rover more aerodynamic.
(perhaps anything would be an improvement)
No facts or figures just a theory

Great advice guys, I'm not so sure about the aerodynamic
properties but then who knows!
I have decided to go for it with the bonnet spare as the amount
of space it takes up in the back is a pain cos I use the back of
mine a lot.

Talking about altering the aerodynamics, can anyone explain why
our Carawagon achieved an AVERAGE of 39mpg over around 3.5k
miles in Morocco when the other Carawagons with the same engines
and running gear were achieving an average of between 30 &
35mpg?
Could be right-foot related, or just a very well set up engine,
but we were consistently putting 5-10l less Diesel in compared
to the others at every fill-up!

All 3 Carawagons had 200TDi engines, 3.54 diffs and overdrive,
two (including ours) with Defender turbos, one with Disco.
Perhaps a wind-jammer effect?
