Has any one seen or had any axle tubes galvanised hot dipped?

Have seen it done, but believe the bloke who did it had problems
with the mating surfaces.

Mine are powder coated and I had to strip it of the mating
surface to get everything to mate up.

Brick acid would remove it from the mating surfaces.

:giddy:have seen it done on a disgay and it looked the must
nuts. Had to clean mating surfaces with brick acid to get a good
seal but worked ok when that was done

did it?
As there are only three surfaces to clear which is a small price
to pay to save my Series II axles.

It wasnt my car but I sometimes help out at my mates garage so
it was a customers car. I seem to remember the bloke with the
garage bought a pair from some land rover show cos they were
cheap!!!
As you say there are only 3 mating surfaces so doesn't take long
to clean up just remember to remove diff studs after dipping and
just replace them, it's a lot easier than either filling the
holes before you dip it or cleaning them out afterwards with a
tap

I see, seems odd that they where cheap as it seem like a good
idea in my head but i might be wrong
Good point about the stud holes.
I am not sure if the casing will go out of shape with the heat?

It didn't look to have gone out of shape & is still on the car &
leak free to best of my knowledge. Like I said it did look well
when fitted, given that most galvanisers charge by weight and
they ain't that heavy shouldn't be too pricey but worth making
up a load to maximise weight. Maybe things like bulkhead
brackets and front frame etc??
