Bloody shit part again (steering joint)

I've only had my present landrover for 18 months.
When I got it the steering was pretty lousy which turned out to
be (partly) due to the ball joint off the steering relay worn.
So 15 months ago I replaced it.... With a shitpart one. I
didn't know then the reputation shitpart had.
Well MOT time, and it failed on that same joint. Only 15 months
old but the rubber boot has completely perished.
So anyone know where I can get a NON shitpart steering joint. I
want the next one to last a good deal longer than 15 months.
That's just, um, well shit, there's no other word for it.

May be Dunsfold are the best. I believe Craddocks do list O/E
quality and other cheaper versions. I have to be desperate to
finish a job to fit shitpart, normally if parts are offered in a
blue box and no alternative I walk. I have had to do to many
jobs twice in the past to bother fitting the crap in blue boxes.
We would all happily pay more for improved quality parts.

Give Dunsfold a bell, I did re. some gearbox bits, they're very
helpful and really nice blokes, unlikely they'd ever sell dodgy
       crap I'd think !

You could always just swap the rubber for a good one I there is
       no play in the joint?

Bought most of the bits for mine from Paddocks, Lemforder was
the brand. Seemed to be decent enough and no sign of damage yet

Lrseries usually have a choice of a few makes on their webby.

LR Series and Brit-car both list different manufacturers and
give you the option to order whatever make you want.

       Thanks
       Plenty there to choose from.
Such a shame my local Landrover parts dealer in town only stocks
the ones in a blue box.

New boots are about £1 a go - the worst bit of the business is
the time wasted splitting the steering system annually to change
       them all.
FWIW I've fitted loads of different brands of TRE and
replacement boots, and they all, regardless of supplier, seem to
last about a year to 18months then go rotten.

What the hell do you do to them John? Last time I fitted a TREs
was about 7 years ago. I used a Genuine Part and it's still
       going strong 50,000 miles later...
       Cheers
       James
