SANDY a friend for Pickles!
By: Mr.Pickles Date: November 10, 2013, 3:03 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I started work on Sandy over two years ago, but a Heart Attack
and 7 months off work with cancer, have held up her progress a
little!
Today, I'm very pleased to say that when I find the wheels,
Sandy has a rolling chassis!

All ready for her wheels.

The front section.

Looking back!

A slight problem with the bump stops, the new rear half chassis
has the section for the bump stops made too small, so a piece of
Teak has been added to space the bump stop away from the
brackets!

Free wheel hubs and gaiters fitted. I know the wheel studs
appear short, that's because I have replaced the old screw-in S2
type with S3 pull in studs, I can't get them fully fitted until
I have the wheels on the ground!

I've already started on the wiring, the chassis section of the
loom has been made and fitted. I have decided to use more than
one colour of wire this time, Black, Red and Green/Yellow for
Earth wires!
Once the wheels are on, Sandy's chassis will be rolled outside
and covered with a tarp, so Pickles can come into the workshop
for some repairs.
Her chassis needs a plate, the rear output seal, behind the hand
brake drum, needs changing and her engine needs a clean and a
new rocker cover gasket, then the MOT!!!

Hi Alex,
It's really good to be able to do this, at one time,
I didn't think I would ever see, even this much of her in one
piece!
Talking of pieces, it's amazing where all the bits have
dissapeared to! I seem to spend more time looking for the nuts
and bolts to fix this part or that! Mr.FT brought me a selection
of bolts, to the pub, so I could find the one I was missing, now
I need 4 nuts to hold the rear diff on!
I've double bought some parts, not remembering that I already
had some already and then not having bits that I swore I had!
(Well maybe haven't found yet!)
Mr.P
