       It was to stop the gun banging into the truck on steep inclines.

       Nope, they are set too wide for that (and the rear spade used to
       dig in first!); they are for bump starting off ships and inside
       planes, means they could be loaded nose to tail.
       That why the rubbers on the bumperettes end up in line with the
       front bumper.
       On a Tactical Air land Operation or TALO if the first truck
       stalled the second basically rammed it off down the ramp so they
       wouldn't get shot up stuck in the back.
       Following on from that I don't know why they didn't add rubber
       onto the normal Military series 2/ 3 rear bumperettes which were
       designed for the same thing.

       Looking good so far and as has been said previously, not often
       we see 101's have the top quality treatment when rebuilt. Keep

       Aah that's interesting, I never knew that. I can now tell people
       about the bumperettes fitted to the crossmember of my
       Lightweight.  :smilewide:
