s3 clutch issues

The pedal on my s3 is biting right at the floor. Sometimes
whilst changing up or down I'm having to double de clutch or
pump the pedal in readiness for a gear change. I've tried
bleeding the system and the doesn't seem to be any air in it.
Earlier the slave pushed passed its seals and held the clutch on
but that seems to be sorted now however I'm still having issues.
Is there some way of adjusting it so the pedal is higher up? Any
thoughts?

Are you sure there is no air in the system? Clutches can be a
real pain to bleed because the clutch pushes back when the bleed
nipple is opened, sometimes you need to adopt some strange
measures to bleed the clutch (on my motor I can bleed the clutch
by simply sliding my foot off the pedal and letting the pedal
come up with a bang)
There is an adjustment on the pedal pushrod. Take off the cover
at the back of the pedal (inside the engine bay) it's held by
six screws. Inside you will find the pushrod and it has
adjusting nuts. You may find its easier to have an assistant to
push the pedal down while you try and adjust it. Just remember
to make sure there is some free play left once it is adjusted,
otherwise you will find your clutch not being able to
release.....

The adjustment for pedal height is in the pedal box under the
cover with 6screws. I had the same symptoms once and couldn't
get a pedal despite bleeding. The nuts had come loose on the
pushrod at the pedal end which you use to adjust the pedal.

When you do the adjustment do not forget to set the peddle
height. 5" from floor on series 3 (140 mm in new money) It is
set with the set screw and lock nut a bit like a tappet on the
end of the peddle box. Set this then set your free play.

All sorted thanks gents. The master cylinder was fooked. Bought
a new yesterday and fitted it today whilst at work in the nice
dry, wind free garage. Think it must have been on its way out
for a while as in now feels ace! :thumbs:
