Wiring up heated windscreen

Should be picking up a heated screen to fit into Ralph, my
series 3 soon from Luke of this parish, do I need a relay for it
and wheres the best place to get power from for it? Guessing its
just 2 wires that come off the glass itself at some point on it

You could speak to Robin, he did all the wiring harnesses and
relays for t'other forum I think he used some sort of relay with
a built in timer delay so it switches off automatically after 10
mins or so.

Why complicate matters? Each screen draws 8 amps so I got a
toggle switch, from an autojumble, that takes 30 amps and took a
feed off one of the big fat brown wires behind the dash. I
suppose you could also put an extra fuse in line too.

Except that Robin's elegant loom stops numpties like me from
leaving the screens on with lights, wipers, blower on too and
cooking the battery.

I used a switch out of an old spec London bus for the 2A. Rated
to something ridiculous. To bastardise an Enzo Ferrari quote,
relays are for people that can't build switches. :smile1

Actually he said "aerodynamics are for people who can't build
engines", I bastardised it into summat more appropriate. And no,
I wouldn't be buying an Italian switch... ;-)
