Cheapo trackers

I have noticed some cheapish trackers like this - one

Not sure how this comment works with a series one though -

PS - something else I only found out tonight. My missus ordered
a book from amazon, and we often have delivery problems, but you
can get parcels delivered to your local Co-Op store, where there
are lockers similar to left luggage lockers in railway stations,
and if you tap in the code that they email you, a door pops open
and there is your parcel! clever stuff!

An easier and cheaper idea that I've heard of is to buy the
cheapest mobile you can find, like one of these "£10 top-up and
the phone is free" ancient Nokias (or even ask people for old
ones lying around), then switch it on and hide it behind a panel
or in the roof of truck somewhere with a charger permanently
plugged in and wired to the ignition.
The rozzers can quite accurately triangulate a mobile phone via
its signal these days should the truck ever be stolen, and the
advantage is that this doesnt need wiring into a modern
integrated electrical system like some dedicated trackers, nor
do you need to keep paying a subscription to a tracking company

I had a motor nicked with a phone in it. The old bill would not
try to find it from the phone signal due to "cost" Could not be
arsed was more like it.

Just been reading through all the reviews on this unit and for
the price it seems unbeatable...... and a good piece of kit...
we use trackers on our fleets at work and they work out at
£450/yr to 'run' so inexpensive too :-)

Looks pretty good that and its got to be worth a punt at that
price. Would be Interesting to see once fitted if a mate could
"steal it" and see if all the features work as they should...

Mark, no one would want to steal your motor. Those gay headlamp
eyebrows would put off any self-respecting thief so there's no
need for a tracker.

You can do that yourself for free with a BlackBerry. They have a
locate function in case you lose it or it gets stolen, just log
in to their website with your BlackBerry ID and it does it all
for you. The rather than calling the police you can send Jim
round with his security emblazoned 109 to break their legs. ;-)

Well I like the look of it and the last time I had mine stolen I
heard the toe rags drive off, I could of txt the unit to cut the
engine before they ploughed though the gate and buggered the
front wings and maybe got to it before they cut the tilt off and
did a runner with my tools in the ammo box.
Could be tempted.

I,ve got a cheapo one on the boingy one.It was expensive to text
it to check on it and it fell out of use ,but looking at the one
Mark has put up I,m really tempted ,but it would be another
thing on the list of jobs that need doing to it electrically.
