Steering column query

Evenin' all,
I'm lookin for a bit of advice if anyone has a minute. I'm in
the process of refubing an original SIII dash, as my truck had
been fitted with a custom made one. The problem is that it looks
like the steering column has been shortened, so I'll have to fit
an unmolested item back in. Before I start a complete strip
down and take the steering box out, does anyone know if I can
take the inner and outer out through the dash and if so, how to
go about it.
Cheers in celebration of my first post on the new forum,
Steve

My steering column was short, I had to leave off the self cancel
collar for the indicator (ser 3 baulkhead and dash).
As to separating and taking the column out through the top end I
am pretty sure the answer is no.
Welcome to the forum, sorry you were left hanging :)

Thank you for the reply Rog, it's much appreciated. It's turned
out to be one of those jobs that I hoped was going to be a
Saturday afternooner, but's turned out to be a bugger!
At least I'll have something to do for a few nights now!
Cheers,
Steve

Well you could take them out via the dash but I suspect you'd
end up with a lot of balls escaping. It's a straightforward job
to do if you remove the wing first.
