Isofix Mounts

Has any one fitted Isofix baby seat mounts to their Land Rover?
I may need to fit a baby seat to mine soon.

Ford offer a kit to suit 1 rear seat on the Focus Mk2 range
(2004-10/11). About £12.

I fitted the Ford kit to my daughters Focus. You may well adapt
one to suit. Do they do baby size ear defenders to go with it?

How come the doubt? One can't be a bit pregnant you know!!

I fitted isofix mounts into my Series 1 two weekends ago.
I am intending to write up how I did it, with photographs, and
get in published in CLR magazine.
In summary though:
1. I took some M8 threaded rod and ground the threads off a
section about 2 inches long in the middle of the rod to reduce
it to 6mm diameter.
2. Heated and bent the rod through 90 degrees immediately either
side of the de-threaded section to make a U-bolt.
3. Drilled a pair of holes through the bulkhead near one side of
the base of the passenger seat back
4. Put the ends of the U-bolt through the holes, with aluminium
spreader plates either side to make a sandwich.
5. Used nyloc nuts on either side to hold the U-bolt in place
6. Repeat all of the above to make a second fixing point.
The baby seat base (Maxi-Cosi) clips into these two points
nicely and is very rigidly held.
I'll try to put some photos in this thread at some point, but at
the moment am far too busy changing my sons nappies and feeding
him - oh, and trying to catch up on missed sleep!

No doubt about the pregnancy, No1 daughter has a medically
diagnosed case of sperm poisoning, the only doubt is if her
first born will be allowed to travel in the Land Rover.
I've no doubt that I'll be needed for a lift somewhere in the
near future when the Mini or Corsa are on other duties.
I'm looking at Isofix as I have harness seat belts in the front.
I once attempted to fit my niece's seat which wouldn't secure
properly in the passenger seat and stopped me changing gear
when held in by the lap belt on the middle.
Having had a look at the Fiesta kits on the internet it does
look like they may be quite easy to make, I look forward to
seeing Huffo's photos once he's caught up on some kip, been
there done that 5 times and I still haven't caught up on sleep

I promised I'd upload some photos of the ISOFIX points I made
for fitting a baby seat in my Series 1.

Bit short of time (crying baby needing attention), so I haven't
written any words to accompany these, and they aren't
beautifully presented on that web page, but hopefully anyone
interested in fitting a baby seat in their Land-Rover will find
them useful.
Erm... You might find some quite similar pictures and an article
about fitting ISOFIX points appears in a Land-Rover magazine
popular on this forum in December.
