Simple question MPG

A rather simplistic question with a complicated answer maybe. Im
currently running a two and a quarter petrol on LPG returning
roughly 20mpg, this works out at 14.4p a mile. Compared to say a
200tdi doing 35mpg that works out at 17.6p a mile.
Can this improved on with A-N-other engine??
Perkins primer or 42306 for example.
The maths is pretty simple to work out its, 1÷mpg × 4.45 × price
of fuel = pence per mile.
How does yours compare?

I use to get 24 mpg out of the lwb with the 2.5 na driving it
hard-ish would think possibly would get 30 mpg in a swb with
same engine and tyre set up being 750's, with the 9.00's on the
lwb and having to drive it really hard just to get the bloody
thing to move I'm down to 19 mpg ish ::) roll on the v8
goodness cos I will probably return the same on pure fuel....
Just sound a lot nicer >rcker<

Using that formula and using fingers and toes
109 V8 average mpg 22.7 26.4 p per mile
86 200tdi average mpg 32.4 19.3 p per mile
but I prefer not to think about it

On my 2.25, my best to date is 18MPG on gas, that’s on a long
run, occasionally using overdrive and doing 45-50mph. However it
is driving the FFR generator and Military fan so like we have
discussed before, they must zap some power. 18MPG on Morrison’s
finest 65.9p a litre gas (plus points don’t you know, for the
once every blue moon 5 quid voucher) is 16.3ppm
Essex v6 is supposed to return 20mpg at the least, so say worst
case you got the same MPG as you get now, but 130bhp over the 70
in the 2.25, and any extra MPG is a bonus, surely that is a
valid upgrade?
