I thought the rubber ones are split along their length and are
glued together once installed, although I have known to be wrong
on one occasion.

Are they? Sounds even more dodgier, I would have thought the
rubber ones would be more prone to splitting and getting nicked
(not the stolen nicked) by sharp protrusions neither mind some
dodgy glue coming apart.

My leather instructions said Vaseline but reckon oil would be
just as good .... sounds like a good mix, leather vaseline and
oil ;D

Mine didn't. They said vaseline or grease but definitely not old
engine oil. If you must use oil then use fresh stuff as old oil
is full of carcinogenic nasties, which you don't really want to
be handling.
Now where were we? Ah yes, leather or rubber? Hmm... Rubber.

::) or was that a 2 year guarantee :D :D :D either way it
makes no difference as its normally broken/ parts missing or
doesnt fit straight from opening the dreaded blue box .....
