my series 3 as only got front wheel drive will be gearbox or
transfer box :smiley-furious:

Diff or half shaft. The only possible gearbox issue that would
cause that would be a sheared rear output shaft.

As Alex said most likely is a rear half shaft, quite a common
problem.

If you pull your handbrake on and try to pull away, does it
stall? If so, its not a gearbox fault. If not, its a kenked box.

I don't think my hand brake has ever been good enough to stall
it. Too much oil going on. Lol :rolleye0012:

Jack both back wheels up and see what happens when you spin them
by hand.

no handbrake when just in rear wheel drive

Sounding like a halfshaft. Does it stall if you try to pull away
with the handbrake on in 2WD though?
