Even I'm grinning like a wanking Jap as I read this. Its the
best, biggest, blankest "Man-canvas" you couldd wish for. I look
forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Wow, a project and a half!! That's gonna keep you busy for a
while but you just know it's gonna be worth it. Seen that green
Parcel Services one a few times near here, think it's West
       Yorkshire based?

Yes, I believe it lives at Kieghley bus museum.

Although it looks quite practical, I'm not over-struck on it's
actual appearance. Finding one is also likely to be a challenge.
The more I think about it, the more I want the finished article
to look like a flat-bed variant of the original van, and for the
uninitiated to think it was built that way from new. Sourcing a
cab from something else that's not going to need a shitload of
work in itself, and that's before it has to be modified to fit,
is going to be tough. I think it's going to be easier and
quicker to build a new cab from scratch, along the lines of the
original, than to do anything else.
I did consider importing a cab/bonnet/wing assembly from the
states or Australia, but the cost and aggro of doing so doesn't
really stack up. Might be different if I fell over something
that was suitable, local and cheap, but I'm not holding my
       breath!
       Glen.

A couple of years ago, I missed out on a WE 3 Tonner for sale at
out Rotherham branch. It still had the 4 litre petrol. I could
have had it for £750 (What we paid for it) . I hesitated, and it
       went for about £4K.

There are at least two of them in an old lorry scrap yard at
Scamblesby, Louth on South Street, you can see them in google
       earth. :smile1

Scurries off to do a quick google-earthing....
       So you can!
Lincolnshire is a fair punch from me though, a couple of hundred
       miles...
Anyone live near enough to scout me out a telephone number? I'd
be more than happy to make the rip if it was going to yield
results, but not if I was going to get told "sorry mate, not for
       sale".
I've been trying to pinpoint the one photographed locally on
google earth without any luck. I can find the general area OK,
but not the truck. I think I'm going to have to go in the flesh
to see if it's still there.
Anyhoo, wasted enough time online tonight, need to get some kip
to have the energy to start packing for the move.
       Cheers all, Glen.

Would the firm be these people?
Hewson Smith & Sons, Old Main Road, Scamblesby, Louth,
       Lincolnshire, LN11 9XG
If so, I'll give them a bell in the week if I don't get anywhere
       with the local one.

I bloody love the internet! :giddy:
