300 tdi and lt77

Got a 300 tdi and a de****er short bell housing gear box, but a
nice new galv chassis so just wanted to know if someone on here
has fitted a lt77 gear box or should i stick with my series 2a
gearbox.cheers

88" or 109"?
I know of people running LT77s in both - there are different
issues with each, but nothing insurmountable with either. You
don't need to mod the chassis either, although I have
subsequently cut mine about a little to make it a better
install.
I did start writing the definitive OLLR guide to installing an
LT77, but got distracted and haven't yet finished it - what I
did post can be found here:

With the combination your looking at fitting, some cutting about
is almost inevitable (there is another way round with a very
special engine mount, but I don't honestly like it much), as the
normal drivers side engine mount on a series chassis hits the
oil filter assembly on a 300tdi block.

Its a 88. Cheers for the info i will have a look. I would like
to avoid any cutting if pos.

Hi blenky,
With a bit of lateral thinking, a 300tdi will fit an 88 with no
cutting - one of my mates has just done it. He fabricated a
custom offside engine mount for the mounting problem, and has
been busy making up a remote oil filter assembly which not only
solves the fitting problem, but also makes it a damn site easier
to access and change filters too.
I saved some of his facebook pics of it at the time as they
provide a valuable reference, I'm sure he won't mind me using
them:

I looked at those pics and felt sure I recognised them, that's
my Landy :), if you have any questions I'm happy to answer them
