solex whistle

So now I have fitted some big mirrors so I can see the other
traffic I need to fix the next problem.
On my 1963 109 the solex carb whistles.
And it drives me mad! :smiley-furious:
I have taken of the complete filter assembly off and it still
whistles, refitted it (properly this time) no change.
Go for a drive and it disappears under acceleration.
But reappears at constant speed or when you back off the
throttle.
Any ideas?

There is probably an induction leak-air being sucked in through
a space that ain't supposed to be there. Gaskets, spindle holes,
are obvious candidates. Use really thick grease applied
externally to suspect areas to narrow it down. A carefully
applied finger end might be revealing but don't blame me if you
get caught in moving parts!
