       Megatoads motors

I feel I should contribute here too.
Back in the dim and distant mists of time (Jan 1991) I bought my
first real Land Rover, a 1969 S11a 109 Safari. Here is APG
alongside TRR an 88" S1 that my brother looked after and
virtually rebuilt for a friend who went globe trotting for a
       couple of years.

This was my 80" when I first bought it in '95, ironically as
work took me irrevacably away from Leeds it stayed on the garden
untouched until I sold it to a 15yr old in the club, note the
sad demise of APG in the background doue to a crash

When I next saw it, in 2004 it was at the Lincs Nationals at
       Manby and looked like this

As for The others there was a 1960 S11 88 I bought to do up as a
trialler, but sold on to a friend on a farm instead but have no
       photos
Around '93 TRR went back to its owner now back in Wales and my
       brother was offered BVH
       [IMG]

When we took a closer look the chassis was rotted roun three
sides on one rail and then the police knocked on the door as the
previous owner had bounced a cheque for the tax disk. Fortunatly
we had ripped the boddywork off by then and could prove it was
       NOT on the road
       [IMG]

Heres me at the 1997 Nationals in Wales in the rebuilt BVH, I
even smashed 1st gear getting a clear, he still hasn't forgiven
       me for that
       [IMG]

And bouncing over Poxstones moor in years gone by
       [IMG]

Then back to my 80", I had mentioned over the years that I
regretted selling it, then out of the blue I was offered it back
as it had been retired in favour of a comfy modern car, I
snapped his hand off and here we are again

Dont worry, I got the tyres cheap, after swapping my 205x16s on
lwb rims I realised that 265x75r16s are tooooooo wide to be
legal let alone pass scrutineering. They will probably end up on
       the 110 or Disco.
Then my pall offered me his 205x16 King pins on modulars off his
RRC rebuild project for the weekend, I think you will agree that
they look much better and offered excellent grip during the
       trial

I am hoping to pick up some 7.50/16 Extra Tractions tomorrow.
I will need to watch the wheel arches and rim offsets as I am
       running S11 axles.

the latter set is really nice :)
are series 2 axles wider than the original series 1 ? if yes i
think that standard rims would be good too as seen in pictures
       ^above^
PS If i were you i would go back to your post and edit it before
some hot head slaps you up big time :handbag for mentioning
       boinger names :rolleye0012:
I dont mind but some ppl in forum do not approve it - that is
what i observed from my short stay here. :) the boingers are
still land rover items and cousins/nephews to our series trucks
       but anyhow. :)
series 1s are cool i wish i could get hold of one but well they
are virtually inexistant here in malta (mass butchered for
trailers ??? and also for chassis numbers to cheat on importing
       boingers)
       good day
       Joseph

Nice truck, some normal LWB rims will keep the wheels inside the
arches; work for my 80" on 750s and series 2 axles

Cheers FenTiger, yup, just need to swap the loose tyre onto one
of my other LWB rims and then next offroading session I wiil be
       on your old 7.50x16s.
The BIGGEST problem I have is that the 80" squeels under the
garage door on 205x16s since the new springs went on, so I can
only put the big shoes on when I need them, but I agree, proper
       LR rims look the best.
Thats why I am thinking of going rag top, though I quite like
       the hardtop

Hi Joseph, yes the S11/111 axles are about 3" wider than the S1
axles, the main advantages are fully floating rear halfshafts
with simpler bearings and a better turning circle on the front.
I also have LWB front TLS 11" brakes .
