My Intro

Thought I would join this forum too as I was recently
recommended it for good information.
Who am I, well I'm a Yorkshireman thats been excommunicated to
the South now for 15+ years. As for Landies I have been obsessed
since I was 4 years old, buying my first a S11a 109 sarafri sw
with Perkins 4203 in it back in 1991. I never looked back. I
have had many LRs over the years including those that should not
be mentioned in these here portals of wisdom.
I have rebuilt several Series over the years, despite a brief
period of cold turkey from the green oval for a while.
My main passion is my 1952 80" that I first bought as a pile of
bits back in '96. Its still a 2L moderatley standard but running
on S11 axles with a S11 steering column. This summer it has just
undergone a bit of a make over with nice new parabolics all
round, new fuel tank and all sorts of other goodies.
I've done the green laning thing but am a bit uncomfortable with
it these days, I am just getting back inti RTVing after finding
the right local club for me previously tending to only compete
in the ALRC nationals with my old club.

That said, she did get further in that section than I did, but
needed hauling out as the engine stalled and the starter refused
to work (I had obviously swamped it when I went through the mud
hole at the beginning of the clip !!

This was my first ever LR, and 2nd ever vehicle
It was a 1969 11a Safari, originally a 6 cyl, but had a Perkins
D4.203 in it when I bought it. After a couple of years I
chiselled an SD1 V8 into it. Much more fun
Sadly it died after some pillock in Leeds decided to U-turn in
fornt of me without indicating !! While the damage was not too
bad at the time, it took 15 months to get an insurance
settlement and it had rotted beyond economic repair
Great motor, did many a mile in the beastie including many green
lanes and play days.

I sold it to somone who claimed they really wanted to put it
back on the road, then next I heard they had scrapped it due to
apathy :banghead
