Decent degreaser? Is there a good one?

I am after a good engine degreaser. Tried the usual things but
they are shite.
Mainly getting used to clean a gearbox.

I used petrol on my gbox, various stiff paint brushes and a
toothbrush.
Took a while but was like new.

I was given 50 litres of heating oil some time ago, it does a
reasonable job. I believe it is only posh kerosene.

Scraped the gungy stuff off with a scraper, various stiff
brushes, and tooth brushes using white spirit did the job for
me.

I find white spirit to have the best (aggressive grease/waxoyl
removal) : (doesn't immediately evaporate from the solvent tray)
ratio. I also prefer it to diesel because it doesn't leave an
oily residue everywhere when you spill/splash it

red diesel or paraffin the red is cheaper tho.

I use red diesel too. I generally stand whatever it is in a big
metal tray and keep brushing the diesel that runs off back on.
Or me parts washer is full of it for smaller stuff. It works
pretty good.

Diesel and elbow grease, followed with jizzer and a wash off
with hot soapy water.
Jizzer seems OK.
I think leaving the diesel on for a few days first helps to
soften any gunge up.
