hazard switch?

Hi all, im on a bit of a wiring mission at the moment and im
puzzled. My 1977 109 has the remnants of a hazard switch in the
cab and a four pin indicator relay, both of which do not look
original. My question is should my truck have one to pass the
mot? If not can I still use the relay with out the switch wired
in? There isn't one on the Haynes wiring diagram so im thinking
not but would like it confirmed as whoever wired it in was a
fucktard! Wiring is difficult enough without bodged shortcuts
that are a fire hazard.

Not needed until 1986, but they must work if fitted, I would
remove the rest of the switch to be an the safe side for test.
I can't help you with the wiring though.

Probably be wise to wire it as standard using a standard flasher
can.

Yeh. Looking on eBay there are two types. A two or a three pin.
According to Haynes its a two so I think I'll go with that.

With a bit of thought you can sort out a set of working hazards
using a DPDT switch from Maplins, a bridge rectifier, warning
light and an ordinary flasher relay. If your relay is an
electronic type that can handle 4+ bulbs you can use just the
one relay to do hazards as well as normal indicators. When I've
a little more time I'll post up a diagram.

Easier than that IIRC.
Two diodes, an single pole on-off switch (ideally one that
illuminates) and potentially an extra flash relay should be
sufficient.
Wire as follows:
-
diode - LH indicators
live feed - switch - 2 pin flasher relay - warning light
-
diode - RH indicators

If you're a wiring numpty like me you may find it easier to put
a flashing beacon on the roof and not bother with hazard lights!

Flashing beacon on mine, not that I couldn't wire in hazards I
would sooner have one thing less to potentially stop working on
the short journey to the MOT.
That and the company who we shared a trailer park with at work
were awkward about any thing smaller than an HGV being driven
around the trailer park without an amber beacon. There is no way
I'm walking around a trailer park at 04:00 hrs in the rain doing
a trailer check.
