2 ba screws

Can any one tell me the length of the 2ba screws/sets that are
used for the speedo cable in to the gearbox as i cant find the
ones i took out anywhere.

I bought some 5/16" long Allen head screws from eBay to replace
the fiddly slotted ones. Only cost a few pence even with the
postage.

Will have a look tonight as the beergox is on the bench at the
moment in 100 pieces, and i have a selection of 2ba screws

Dave the book says 1/4", that's about 6mm to you :)

They cant be 1/4" dude, thats 6.35 metric and the hole in the
ring that that holds the speedo into the gearbox is only 5mm

the repair operations manual does not state size just says use a
2ba spanner??

There's a retainer plate that fits over the end of the speedo
cable, which is only about 2 - 3mm and that holds the speedo
cable into the speedo bit of the gearbox. That plate screws into
another plate which is more substantial, the secondary plate
hardly ever gets removed from the gearbox and is held on with 2
countersunk screws, that plate is quite thick and about 5mm.

The Repair Operations Manual wont tell you what size as it's for
repairing stuff, I'm looking in the parts catalogue.

i need the ones that hold the cable into the place that go
through the ring with the 3 holes in it.

And they're 1/4" long :-? I've looked in several parts cats
now, part numbers have changed but length has not. All have
listed as 2ba x 1/4" length with part numbers are 78924 or
250957.
